Define the comparison honestly
A before-and-after comparison must identify the permissioned source and a demonstrably original output. “Before” should describe the source structure and claims accurately; “after” should show what was changed for the new product and why. Do not present a fictional reference as a real creator asset.
Use a hypothetical planning exercise
Imagine a source structure consisting of a surprised opening followed by an automatic-send demonstration. The fictional target product can only show a call note with next steps. A responsible proposed adaptation changes the words to “the next step is in the note” and shows an independently captured note. This is a conceptual example, not a completed before-and-after.
| Stage | Record | Review |
|---|---|---|
| Reference | Source and permission | Rights for the intended use |
| Business brief | Verified product facts | Remove unsupported claims |
| New asset | Original text and footage | Actual approved export |
Capture the real evidence
Record the source link, creator and permission; annotate the relevant segment without copying unlicensed media. Save the target business facts and the independently created script and asset. Mark exactly which reference element informed the structure and which unsupported claims were removed.
Review rights and claims
Verify the output against the real feature, check permissions for footage and music, and remove private information. Include actual before-and-after assets and review notes only when approved. Do not imply that matching a popular format will reproduce its reach or sales.
Copy the planning worksheet
Use this worksheet in your own notes. Fill it with verified product details and actual review observations before sharing an asset.
